Privacy Policy

1. Our Commitment
Makai US Group LLC is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate MBI and never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or project data to third parties.
2. Data We Collect
- Account Data: Email address and encrypted password used to create and authenticate your MBI account.
- Project Data: Project names, settings, and saved estimates you store within MBI. This data belongs to you.
- Calculator Bridge Data: Field measurements sent from the Makai Measurement Calculator to MBI are held temporarily in memory for the active session and are not permanently stored on our servers.
- Uploaded Plan Files: PDF plans and images you upload for AI analysis are processed in real time and are not permanently stored after the session completes.
- Usage Data: Login timestamps and feature interaction logs used for system stability and improvement.
- Billing Data: Subscription status managed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate your identity and provide access to MBI
- To process uploaded plans and generate AI budget estimates
- To save and retrieve your project history and settings
- To process subscription billing via Stripe
- To send account-related emails (billing receipts, service notices, password resets)
- To improve MBI features using aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
4. AI Processing — Anthropic Claude
MBI uses the Anthropic Claude API to analyze construction plans and generate estimates. When you run a phase analysis:
- Your uploaded plan files and project data are sent to Anthropic's API for processing
- Anthropic processes this data per their Privacy Policy and API usage terms
- Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models
- Processed data is not retained by Anthropic beyond the API request lifecycle
We recommend avoiding uploading plans that contain personally identifiable client information beyond what is necessary for estimation purposes.
5. Third-Party Services
- Stripe: Payment processing. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: Secure cloud database for account and project data storage.
- Railway: Cloud hosting infrastructure for MBI platform delivery.
- Anthropic: AI analysis engine. See Section 4 above.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising tracking tools.
6. Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Project data is isolated per account and not accessible to other users. Uploaded plan files are processed in memory and not written to permanent storage after analysis completes.
7. Data Retention
- Uploaded plans: Not permanently stored — processed in memory per session only.
- Calculator bridge data: Held in server memory for the active session; cleared on server restart or redeploy.
- Project data & estimates: Retained as long as your account is active.
- Account data: Removed within 30 days of account deletion.
- Billing records: Retained up to 7 years for legal and tax compliance.
8. Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of your stored data by emailing us.
- Correction: Update your account information via Settings.
- Deletion: Delete your account from Settings. Personal data removed within 30 days.
- Portability: Export your project data and estimates before closing your account.
9. Cookies
MBI uses only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
10. Children's Privacy
MBI is a professional tool intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Active subscribers will be notified by email of material changes. Continued use of MBI after updates constitutes acceptance.
